Sewing
Attention to detail
-Made in Laos-
Siimee has established a sewing team and atelier in Laos to produce clothes.
We are creating products that maximize the potential of the people of Laos.
"Lao people are lazy," say many Lao people.
And sometimes Japanese people say the same thing.
However, there are many customs in Laotian life that symbolize the hardworking and polite nature of the Laotian people.
Every day, I get up early in the morning to steam glutinous rice, my staple food, and cook rice.
Every morning they beg for alms and give the rice they have collected to the monks.
I always clean and tidy up, so my room is always neat and tidy.
For busy Japanese people, even the most tedious daily tasks are repeated every day as a matter of course.
Therefore, many Lao people are not lazy, but are actually hardworking and polite.
We believe that it is precisely because of the people of Laos that they are able to create products with careful sewing.
There is also one other thing that is important when running the sewing team in Laos .
In a typical sewing factory, for efficiency, each worker's work is divided into separate parts.
As a result, sewing becomes a mechanical task, and we believe that the enjoyment of sewing is lost.
That's why we value having one person make each product from start to finish.
Furthermore, by having each person sew one garment at a time, we are not simply giving one-way instructions to the Laotian team; instead, our team members in Laos sometimes suggest ideas for better production methods, providing us with many opportunities for new discoveries.
Such new discoveries create a more vibrant environment in which products are created.
On the other hand, there is an important issue of quality when delivering products to Japan.
Occasionally, you will hear the expression "Lao quality" used derogatorily to describe Laotian products.
It's true that you may get the impression that the seams will come undone and the color will fade easily.
The quality issue does not necessarily mean that the Laotian people are inferior in ability, but rather that the quality generally required in Laos is different from that required in Japan. In Japan, there are legal standards such as JIS, and there is a foundation that must be adhered to.
We aim to create products without compromise by thoroughly demonstrating the quality standards required in Japan and working together with our team members in Laos.
In this way, we at Siimee have taken advantage of the Lao people's diligence and politeness,
By combining this with the uncompromising quality that Japan demands,
We aim to create something better for everyone involved.
