siimee restarts 2023.6.6

Starting today, June 6, 2023, siimee will be rebranding and making a fresh start.

Specifically, the brand will shift from a lineup that was previously centered on handmade goods from Laos to one that focuses on original apparel.

A major turning point came at the end of March this year when we were able to start production in our Laotian atelier and sewing team.

Starting manufacturing in Laos has been my ambition since the beginning of the brand in 2021.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to travel, so we had the fabric shipped to us, made samples and produced small quantities in Japan, and delivered them to customers little by little.

However , since one of our visions is to "unleash the potential of the people of Laos," we thought that this could be more effectively realized by working with the Laotian people to create everything from the fabric to the final product.

And so we were finally able to get the sewing system up and running in Laos.

With the help of many people, we produced the products over a period of two months with two members, based on the designs and patterns we brought from Japan.

Some of the sewing specifications are not often seen in Laos, so it must have been difficult for us to get used to them, but they even suggested things like "this procedure would be easier to sew," and the work gradually became smoother.

Every time we inspected the products, we found some parts that had been slightly missed or had uneven stitching. Although it was painful, we aimed to improve the quality by having them resewn to meet the "Japanese standard."

The members worked hard every day to create the best possible products, saying, "This product is going to Japan," with a real sense of purpose that the garment they were currently sewing would reach Japan.

We are now able to deliver these products to you as of today.

In addition, we have completely redesigned the concept.

"Clothes that let you live like you're traveling"

We decided to do so.

While we cherish Laos, where our products are produced, we realized that in order to reach more customers, we needed to focus more on the value we could deliver to people in Japan.

We have faced the reality that the characteristic of "Laotian fabric" alone makes it difficult for our products to reach people who have no interest in Laos or Asia to begin with, and, regrettably, it also brings to mind images of "fair trade" and "aid."

So when I thought about what value I wanted to deliver through Laotian fabric,
For those who are busy every day with work, childcare, etc.,

"A sense of freedom when traveling"

"The excitement of coming into contact with the unknown and different cultures"

I felt like I wanted to convey this message.

I myself love traveling, and the experience of traveling making my heart feel lighter and more excited and seeing a different world is something very important in my life.

What if we could deliver that message through clothing?
I became convinced that clothing, and fashion, have this kind of power.

Because it is clothing that is worn on the body, I can inject my own story into it as a designer.

Anyone who picks it up can feel the story.

That's what I thought.

We want to help you create a life that gives you a sense of freedom and curiosity about the unknown, just like traveling every day.

In order to become such a brand, we are making a fresh start with this new concept.

Please start using the new siimee today. Thank you for your continued support.
