Men's clothing is something I've wanted to make for a long time.
I don't think there are many men's clothes that are made with the same handcrafted techniques as siimee's hand-spun cotton.
However, as I talk to various people, I have met men who are interested in these natural materials and handmade items and want to wear them.
I had always wanted to create men's clothing there.
What kind of clothing would allow men to wear this material comfortably?
One thing I was thinking about was a haori.
When you go out, putting on a jacket or other outerwear can help you change your mood.
Laotian hand-spun cotton has a soft and casual feel,
When light hits it, the weave is beautiful and has an elegance similar to wool tweed.
So I thought that by making a haori, I could create a beautiful haori that was not too formal, but not too loose either.
So in the second half of this year we are working on making men's clothing.
We have some samples ready now, and we plan to have people try them on so that we can make improvements.
My studies of fashion have been based on women's fashion, so there is still a lot I do not know about the men's body.
But that's what makes it so interesting and fun to create things.
